YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer team wrapped up their 2025 regular season with a 1-0 victory over Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon in York.
The Spartans got the game's lone goal with just under ten minutes remaining in the game.
York finishes the regular season with a mark of 13-4-2 an 6-1 in the MAC Commonwealth. The Mustangs, who will come back to York for the Commonwealth semifinals, are now 8-5-5 overall and 4-3 in the league.
How It Happened
• The Spartans had control of the contest from the jump as they peppered the Mustang goal to the tune of 19-3 in shots including 9-2 in shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes of play. Isabella Serano kept the Mustangs in the game as the Mustang netminder made nine first half saves.
• The second half was much of the same as the Green and White continue to fire off shots on the Stevenson goal, only to come up empty handed. The Spartans finally broke through in the 81
st minute as York earned a corner kick.
Carissa Baugus took the kick from the left hand side of the goal. Her kick found
Mackenzie Hanley who collected the ball and flicked a nifty pass to
Meg Kalthof. Kalthof finished off the chance for her 14
th goal of the year.
• The Spartans out-shot the Mustangs 36-4 overall and 16-3 in shots on goal. York also owned a 10-1 bulge in corner kicks. Serano made 15 saves for the Mustangs while
Joss Metz made three saves in earning the clean sheet for the Spartans.
Spartan Notes
The Spartans are now 11-8-1 all-time against Stevenson as the Spartans have won three straight in the series … the 13 wins for the Spartans ties them for the must under head coach
Kelly Wakeman (13-7 and 6-1 in 2023 and 13-7 and 5-3 in 2021) … York has won at least 12 games in each of the five years under Wakeman …
Meg Kalthof is now tied for second in single-season goals with 14, tying her with Spartan Hall of Famer Emily Sullivan … Kalthof also has six game-winning goals for the year which ties her with Maria Chesnavage (2000) for the single season school record … York's 36 shots are the second most of the year (37 vs. Goucher) ... York is 7-3 at home for the year.
