YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer team used an eight goal second half to roll past Goucher College 9-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday night in York.
The nine goals are the most for the Spartans in the six-year tenure of head coach
Kelly Wakeman, eclipsing the seven goals scored against Albright on October 25, 2023.
The Spartans are now 6-3-2 overall while the Gophers fall to 1-9.
How It Happened
• The Spartans got off to a slow scoring start in the first half despite firing off 15 total shots with eight coming on goal. Senior
Lexi Mazzella gave York the lead in the 23
rd minute of the game with her sixth goal of the year. York finished the first half with a 1-0 lead as they out shot the Gophers 9-0 in shots on goal.
• After some halftime adjustments, the Spartan offense exploded.
Sara Frensley started the second half scoring with a goal off a corner just 4:21 into the second half. Mazzella then recorded two more goals to make it 4-0 seven minutes into the second half.

Meg Bailey then notched back-to-back goals in a nine-minute span as the lead ballooned to 6-0 with 22 minutes left in the game. Senior
Nicola Delliponti recorded her first goal of the year off a nice feed from
Julianna Schilling.
Allysa Hartman added to the score with a rocket to the upper left 90 with 4:02 left in regulation. Schilling capped the scoring with the Spartans' ninth tally of the night.
• York finished the game holding a 37-0 edge in total shots including a 23-0 bulge in shots on goal.
