WINCHESTER, VA – The York College men's track and field team kicked off the spring semester portion of their indoor schedule with a second-place finish at the Kaye and JJ Smith Invitational hosted by Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia on Sunday.
The Spartans finished second of seven teams with 117 points, finishing right behind McDaniel, who won the team title with 132 points. Eastern Mennonite finished third with 86 points.
The Spartans finished the day with three individual wins.
Aidan Rollinson had a big day with a victory in the weight throw with a best distance of 16.21 meters. He also notched a third-place finish in the shot put for the Green and White. Fellow thrower
Andrew Mott picked up another win as he was victorious in the shot put with a best throw of 16.32 meters. He won the event by 1.84 meters as he now has 26 career victories for the Spartans.
Brayden Ecker picked up York's third individual win as he was first in the pole vault with a best height of 4.35 meters. The Spartans dominated the pole vault with five of the top eight finishers in the event.
Brody Weachter finished second,
Jonah Arnold was third, followed by
Teddy Peterson and
Sam Dickmyer tying for fifth.
The 4x200 relay team consisting of
Quincy Hardison,
Brody Bonham,
Hamed Diallo, and
Shaun Apsley also posted a win for the Spartans, notching a time of 1:35.37 in the event.
Edwin Niemandt joined Weachter as a second-place finisher as Niemandt was the runner-up in the high jump.
Pierce Nolan (1 mile run), Apsley (400 meter dash), and
Tylor Druckemiller (800 meter run) all earned fourth place finishes for the Green and White.
