Pena Named Field Athlete of the Year, Defends Pole Vault Title at Indoor MAC Championships

READING, Pa. - Julia Pena medaled twice and defended her indoor pole vault title while earning Field Athlete of the Year honors as the Spartans finished ninth out of 15 teams at the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Alvernia.

Pena captured gold in pole vault at the MAC Indoor Championships for the second straight year and also earned silver in the 60m hurdles for the second consecutive year as well. Her time of 8.73 in the hurdles lowered her own school record yet again this season and is tied for the eighth-fastest time in the nation.

Pena captured gold medals in the long jump and pole vault on her way to earning Field Athlete of the Year. She is now a five-time indoor MAC medalist for her career between the 60m hurdles, long jump and pole vault.

Sarah Skane scored her first-career team points in an individual event at the MAC Indoor Championships with a sixth-place finish in the 800m. Her time of 2:24.92 also set a new personal record.

York picked up a pair of points with eighth place finishes in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
