York in the NCAA Tournament
York is in the midst of its fifth-consecutive NCAA postseason run and sixth overall as the Spartans own a record of 10-5 in the national tournament. The Spartans are making their third-straight NCAA Quarterfinal appearance and fourth overall. York is still in pursuit of its first-ever NCAA Semifinal appearance.
Tufts in the NCAA Tournament
The Jumbos earned an NCAA berth for the 12th year in a row and 13th time overall. Tufts owns a 33-9 record in the tournament including winning national championships in 2010, 2014 and 2015. The Jumbos have been a national finalist five times with their most recent appearance in 2016.
How they got here

York punched its ticket to the NCAA postseason by defeating #7 Stevenson, 11-0, in the MAC Commonwealth title game to capture the conference crown in the school's inaugural season in the MAC Commonwealth. The Spartans handed Stevenson their first-ever loss to a MAC Commonwealth opponent (76-1) since the Mustangs joined the conference in 2013 and ended Stevenson's run of seven-straight conference championships. Furthermore, the Spartans held Stevenson scoreless for the first time in program history and recorded the first-ever shutout in a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship Game. The Spartans arrived in Rochester following a 21-6 victory over Lasell in the First Round in their highest-scoring performance in an NCAA postseason game. York then knocked off a top-10 team for the second time in the NCAA Tournament by defeating #7 F&M, 13-9, in the Second Round.

Tufts secured its spot in the national tournament with an 18-11 victory over #13 Williams to lock up the NESCAC Championship Game. The Jumbos entered the fourth quarter with a one-goal lead and out-scored the Ephs, 8-2, in the final period to capture the program's 10th conference championship. Tufts went on to defeat Babson, 16-7, in the NCAA First Round and secured its spot in Rochester with a 19-15 victory over #8 St. John Fisher in the Second Round. The Jumbos fought back from a 7-4 second-quarter deficit and survived a fourth-quarter surge by the Cardinals to clinch the high-scoring victory.
Scouting the Spartans

The Spartans have 29 different goal scorers on the season, 10 of which have double-digit goal totals and five with 20+ goals. Seven different Spartans have double-digit assists on the season.

York has seven games with 20+ goals on the season, including a program-record 31-goal performance in a MAC Quarterfinal victory over Albright (31-2). The Spartans have only been held to single-digits once this season in an 11-8 loss at #12 Stevenson (4/23). York also has eight double-digit assist performances this season, including a program-record 22 assists in the 31-2 victory over Albright.

York ranks seventh in the nation with a +12.47 average scoring margin with the 14th-best scoring offense (18.18 gpg).

Brendan O'Sullivan, the MAC Commonwealth leader in goals (59) and points (67), ranks 10th in the country in goals. Michael Russo is York's leading distributor with 27 assists on the season, averaging 1.93 per game.

Vinny Facciponti, the MAC Commonwealth leader in face-offs won (232) and face-off win percentage (.669), ranks 12th nationally in face-off win percentage among players with at least 200 face-offs taken. He ranks fourth in total face-offs won.

The Spartans have only surrendered double-digit goals in three games this season as they own the nation's third-best scoring defense (5.71 gpg). Their 225 caused turnovers ranks second in the land and they rank 14th with 13.24 per game.

Jack Michael ranks second in the nation with a 5.65 goals-against average and his .608 save percentage ranks 10th among goalies who have played at least 400 minutes.
Scouting the Jumbos

Tufts does not yet have a 30-goal scorer, but has four players with 20-plus tallies on the season as 25 different players have scored a goal. Three different players have double-figure assists on the season.

Tufts has scored 20-plus goals four times this season, including a season-high 31 goals in a 31-7 victory over Bates, and has recorded double-digit assists in all but one game. The Jumbos have not scored less than 15 goals in any game this season.

The Jumbos own the second-best scoring offense in the nation with 22.38 gpg and ninth in average scoring margin (+11.50 gpg). Tufts also ranks second in the nation with 13.88 assists per game.

Max Waldbaum paces the Jumbos with 29 tallies on the season and Bryce Adam ranks second with 28. Mac Bredahl ranks second in the nation with 4.5 assists per game as he leads the team with 36 total helpers on the season.

Tufts uses a two-pronged approach at the face-off X. Kyle Helfrich leads the team in face-offs won (70) and total face-offs taken (139). Aidan Hesse ranks second with 51 wins on 110 total face-offs taken.

The Jumbo's scoring defense enters Saturday's matchup averaging 10.88 goals per game and have held three opponents under double-digits this season, including Division I Dartmouth (9 goals).

Joe Theuer backstops a Tuft defense with a .566 save percentage and a 10.65 goals-against average in 405 minutes of play. Theuer has five double-digit save performances in just eight games this season, including a pair of 16-save outings.
