How it happened
York set the tone for the game with a goal on the first possession of the game less than one minute following the opening face-off. Dylan Wolf tacked on another goal for the Spartans on their third possession at 11:41, but Lasell responded with a goal 68 seconds later to cut the deficit to one goal. Lasell won the ensuing face-off, but Ethan Greene caused the Lasers to turn it over and the all-conference defenseman found the back of the net on the other end. Greene's goal jump-started the Spartans as they went on a seven-goal run. The Lasers notched a tally in the final minute of the first quarter as York owned a 9-2 lead after the first 15 minutes of play
Will Harnick found the back of the net on York's first possession of the second quarter with his third tally of the day. The Lasers answered back shortly after a Spartan penalty had expired and then tacked on another on their next possession following an unsettled scramble off the face-off. The Spartans gained their footing after winning the next face-off and ripped off five shots before Eric Ranck found the back of the net. York went to score two more goals in a span of 27 seconds to take a 13-4 lead with 6:07 left in the second quarter. Michael Russo tacked on another goal for good measure with 2:14 left after York caused turnovers on the two prior Lasell possessions. The Lasers finished the first half with 10 turnovers and 14 total shots while the Lasers were just 7-for-11 on the clear.
Harnick got York going again as he scored his fourth tally of the day on York's first possession of the third quarter. The Lasers responded with two goals less than two minutes apart with the second aided by a Spartan penalty as Lasell cut the deficit to 11 with 11:06 left to play in the third. That would prove to be the last goal of the game for the Lasers as Gavin Dembeck accounted for two more goals in the third quarter, while Chandler Schmidt, Nate Johnnie and Ryan Sisitki joined the scoring effort in the fourth quarter.
