#6 Men's Lacrosse Set to Make MAC Postseason Debut

YORK, Pa. - The No. 2 seed York College men's lacrosse team will make its MAC Commonwealth postseason debut Saturday at home against No. 7 seed Albright in the quarterfinals.

Scouting the Spartans

  • York enters the postseason having out-scored MAC Commonwealth opponents 99-33 through six games. The Spartans averaged 16.5 goals per game in those contests, while surrendering an average of 5.5 goals per game for a +11.0 average scoring margin which ranks first in the conference.

  • Overall, York owns a +12.42 scoring margin which ranks first in the conference and top-10 nationally. The Spartans also lead the conference and rank top-20 nationally in scoring offense (18.17 gpg), while ranking top-10 nationally with the conference's top scoring defense (5.75 gpg). The Spartans have caused 162 turnovers this season which ranks second in the MAC Commonwealth and fifth in the nation this season.

  • York enters Saturday's matchup with a five-game first-quarter shutout streak and has out-scored opponents 65-5 in the opening quarter this season. The Spartans have also pitched first-half shutouts in three of the last four contests and own a +113 (131-18) scoring margin in the first half throughout the season.

  • Brendan O'Sullivan leads the Spartans in both goals (40) and points (44) as he ranks first in the MAC Commonwealth in goals. Dylan Wolf ranks fourth in the conference with 27 goals and Will Harnick ranks sixth with 26. Wolf (T-4th - 40) and Harnick (10th - 30) also rank top-10 in the conference in points this season. Wolf is 15th all-time in program history with 109 career points.

  • Michael Russo ranks fourth in the conference with a team-leading 17 assists on the season, while Eric Ranck (T-6th - 15), Wolf (8th - 13) and Jacob Wilhelm (9th - 12) also rank inside the Commonwealth's top-10.

  • Vinny Facciponti ranks first in the MAC Commonwealth in face-offs won (153-for-83), while leading the conference in face-off percentage (.648) among the nine players with at least 100 face-offs taken. Facciponti ranks 28th nationally in face-off percentage among players with at least 100 face-offs taken.

  • Ethan Greene and Ryan Kennedy rank third and fourth in the MAC Commonwealth with 26 and 25 caused turnovers, respectively. Tyler Nation is ninth with 15. Kennedy is fourth in program history 67 caused turnovers and Nation is seventh with 54. Both Kennedy and Greene are tied with six others for the program's single-game record with six.

  • Jack Michael leads the conference in goals-against average (5.19) and save percentage (.634). He owns the second-best goals-against average and third-best save percentage in the nation among goalies with at least 500 minutes played.

Scouting the Lions

  • The Lions compiled a -6.8 average scoring margin (47-88) in six games against MAC Commonwealth teams this season. Overall, Albright owns a -7.4 average scoring margin through 10 games. The Lions rank sixth in the conference in scoring offense (8.5 gpg) and last in scoring defense (15.9 gpg).

  • Cole Genneken leads the Lions in scoring with 24 goals and 14 assists for 38 points on the season. Genneken ranks eighth in the conference in goals per game (2.4), eighth in assists per game (1.4), sixth in points per game (3.8) and first in shots per game (9.5).

  • Connor Graser leads the team in ground balls with 68 on the season and ranks third in the conference with 6.8 ground balls per game. Graser also leads the team and the conference in caused turnovers with 3.3 per game for a total of 33 on the season.

  • Goalie Liam Ferry ranks eighth in the conference in both save percentage (.437) and goals against average (14.6).

Head to Head

  • The Spartans defeated the Lions, 17-3, last Saturday at Kinsley Field in the regular season finale for both teams. The Spartans out-scored the Lions, 10-0, at halftime and held the Albright scoreless until 7:16 left in the third quarter. 15 different Spartans tallied a goal in the game with Michael Russo leading the way with four points on one goal and three assists.

  • Against common opponents DeSales, Eastern, Lebanon Valley, Messiah, Misericordia, Widener and Wilkes, the Lions compiled a record of 2-5 with wins over Messiah and Wilkes, while the Spartans went 7-0. 

  • Thursday's matchup will be just the second meeting between the two programs.

Looking Ahead

The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals on Wednesday where they will face the winner of No. 6 Lebanon Valley vs. No. 3 Eastern with the higher remaining seed hosting the game.
