How It Happened
• York shot 5-for-10 from the field to open the game on a 10-2 run at the first media timeout, as Haley Luckabaugh led the way with six points during that stretch. Out of the timeout, York cooled off and Salisbury closed the gap with an 8-2 run to end the quarter. The Spartans shot 1-for-4 from the field in the final five minutes of the quarter and turned the ball over five times during that span as they led, 12-10, at the end of the first quarter.
• Salisbury shot 0-for-4 from the field and 0-for-2 from the free throw line to open the second quarter, while York opened up a 10-point lead (22-12) midway through the quarter. Salisbury quickly erased the York lead and tied the game (22-22) with a 10-0 run in a three-minute span. The two sides went back-and-forth in the final two minutes before Amber Onyekwere received the inbound pass in the closing seconds of the quarter and went coast-to-coast to give the Sea Gulls the 27-26 lead heading into halftime.
• Turnovers piled up quickly for York to start the third quarter as Salisbury opened an eight-point lead (38-30) on an 11-4 run with 5:54 left. York switched to a zone defense towards the end of the quarter, which slowed down Salisbury's scoring rate and allowed the Spartans to climb back as the fourth quarter began to unfold.
• Bradi Zumbrum knocked down a mid-range jumper to give York its first lead (46-45) since 0:08 to go in the second quarter as she capped a 10-3 Spartan run to start the fourth quarter. Zumbrum led the way with five points at the midway point of the fourth quarter as York held a 48-47 advantage on a 5-for-6 performance from the floor.
• York went on to post five-consecutive stops and took a five-point lead (52-47) before Salisbury finally scored with 2:06 left, ending a scoring drought that lasted 4:30 in game time as the Spartans stuck with the zone defense. The Sea Gulls cut the lead to three twice in the final two minutes, but as Salisbury was forced to foul, York shined at the free throw line, finishing the game 6-for-6. Luckabaugh led the way with a 4-for-4 performance at the line during that span to help seal the victory.
