How it Happened:

• The Spartans blitzed Nazareth early on as Austin Glab opened the scoring just 57 seconds into the game. Joseph Joseph made it 2-0 just over two minutes later as he registered a man-down goal for the two goal Spartan edge. Glab continued to power the Spartan offense in the first quarter as he tallied a pair of man-up goals to push the lead to 4-0 after 15 minutes of play. Glab's second goal came with 6:19 left in the first and the third came with just 36 seconds left in the quarter.

• York's offensive onslaught continued in the early stages of the second quarter as Hunter Davis found the back of the net off a pass from Brendan McGrath 1:21 into the quarter. Davis' goal was York's third straight man-up goal.

• Junior Dillon Hannah made it 6-0 with an unassisted goal with 7:40 left in the second quarter. Hannah struck for a second straight goal 2:20 later as the Spartans pushed the lead to 7-0. The Golden Flyers got on the board with 3:19 left in the half as Joe Eiskant finally solved Spartan goalie Landry Marshall for the goal.

• York's McGrath threw a dagger at Nazareth as he scored a goal at the horn to give York an 8-1 lead heading to the break.

• The Golden Flyers came roaring out of the half as they smacked the Spartans with three straight goals, cutting their deficit to 8-4 with 8:00 minutes left in the third quarter. York wasted little time in responding as Thomas Pfeiffer notched a man up goal followed by a McGrath man-down goal to push York's lead back to 10-4.

• Nazareth's Hunter Burdick opened the fourth quarter scoring with an unassisted goal just 28 seconds into the period. York answered with goals from Hannah and Joseph as the Spartan lead increased back to seven at 12-5.

• The Golden Flyers made it 12-6 on a Jacob Gray tally with 6:51 left. York responded with another man-up goal from Davis as the Spartans led 13-6 with 5:45 left in the game.

• Nazareth ripped off three goals over the five minutes of the game but the Spartans did enough to hold off the Golden Flyers to earn the four-goal victory.

Spartan Notes:

The Spartans improve to 2-0 all-time against the Golden Flyers with both wins coming in the Stevenson Mustang Classic … the Spartans entered the game winning 70.2% (118-for-168) but the Golden Flyers won 19-of-25 face offs to keep the game close …  York tallied their first man-down goal of the year when Joseph Joseph scored a man-down goal just 3:22 into the game … York got their second man-down goal of the year when Brendan McGrath scored a goal late in the third quarter … the Spartans did not commit a turnover in the game for the first time in school history …  York entered the game having scored on 15-of-29 (51.7%) of their extra man chances and they continued the trend as they went 5-for-7 in extra man opportunities for the game … the Spartans' five man-up goals is a season-high for the Green and White … the Spartans lead the CAC in man-up goals with 20 in eight games and their man-up percentage (55.6%) leads the league by 14% over the next best team … While the Spartans' man up unit has been red hot, the Spartans have been fantastic on the man-down as York has limited their opponents to just 3-of-29 (10.3%) in man-up situations … Landry Marshall made 11 saves, his second-highest total of the season … Marshall made five saves in the first half as York was building their big halftime lead … York was a perfect 17-for-17 on the clear and that's the third time this year they have been perfect on the clear … for the year, York is clearing the ball at 91.5%.

HE SAID IT

"There was no quit in Nazareth," said Spartan head coach Brandon Childs. "They have one of the best face off man in the country and he just kept getting them possessions. You can't give them the amount of possessions we gave them and expect to keep them off the scoreboard. Credit their team, I thought they wore us out a little bit in the second half. The fought for the ground balls and turned them into good possessions. We thought the key to today would be taking care of the ball and being really good on the clear. We did a great job in both those areas which allowed us to come out on top."
