Box Score OWINGS MILLS, MD – The York College men's lacrosse squad picked up their third win this year over a top 10 ranked team as they downed #9 Nazareth College 13-8 in the opening round of the Green Turtle Classic hosted by Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland on Friday afternoon. The Spartans improve to 7-0 overall while the Golden Flyers fall to 4-1.

• The Spartans responded with back-to-back goals from Cameron Leech and Matt Whitcher as York took a 2-1 lead. Leech's goal came with 5:06 left in the first and Whitcher's goal came 1:16 later.
• Nazareth's Connor Chapman tied the game at two on an unassisted goal with 2:39 remaining in the first.
• York's Austin Glab closed out the first quarter scoring with a nice goal off a pass from Joseph Joseph 37 seconds after Chapman's goal. The goal gave York a 3-2 lead after 15 minutes of play.

• Nazareth came out of the intermission and tied the game with two goals a mere 47 seconds apart as Matt O'Neill and Wooters found the back of the net, knotting the game at seven.
• The Spartans would take over after the Wooters' goal. Hannah opened the Spartans' four goal spurt as he one-timed a pass from Glab for the goal at the 8:07 mark. Whitcher and Thomas Pfeiffer finished the third quarter scoring with goals at the 3:05 and 2:12 mark respectively.
• Gamble opened the fourth quarter scoring with an unassisted tally on a filthy bounce shot at a harsh angle to push York's lead to 11-7 with 13:24 left in the game.
• Anthony Basile halted the Spartan run with a goal off a Wooters' pass with 5:45 remaining in the game but that would be the last time Nazareth would score.

They Said It
"I thought the difference was the work we did at the face off X and ground balls in the third quarter. J.D. Beck, Conrad Ordakowski, and Jake Katchmark were just outstanding and enabled us to get really productive possessions. I thought our poise against a very good team was something that enabled us to take control of the game in the second half. I thought we shot well and converted opportunities a little better than we had been. I also felt our depth played a big role in the fourth quarter. Our guys were fresher and we were able to kill off the clock late. Nazareth is a very good team and they are going to win a lot of games this year. Now we need to prepare for another great challenge tomorrow."
