HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans kicked off the scoring in the tenth minute off a corner. Senior Alexa Taylor slotted a beautiful pass to Ali Posey and the Spartan All-American drilled a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for her ninth goal of the year. Posey is heating up at the right time of the year for the Spartans as she has now scored in three straight games.
• York put together a flurry in the 13th minute as Meghan Heary hit a shot that was saved by St. Mary's goalie Alyssa Thompson. Junior Autumn Mallory collected the rebound but her shot hit the post, preventing York from making it 2-0. A minute later, the Spartans had another two shot sequence as Kenidy Kubitz hit a shot that was saved. Lindsay Nye got the rebound but was denied by a defensive save from the Seahawks' Sophie Michel.
• Sophomore Jennifer Morrissette kept the Seahawks off the board with a defensive save of her own in the 20th minute of play.
• The Spartans outshot the Seahawks 11-8 in the first half including a 5-2 margin in shots on goal. The Green and White also held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners.
• The Green and White made it 2-0 six minutes into the second half as Alexa Taylor banged home a rebound off Autumn Mallory's initial shot to give the Spartans the 2-0 lead. The goal was Taylor's second of the season.
• Posey and Taylor hooked up for York's third goal as, like York's first goal, it came on a corner. Taylor slipped a pass to Posey who hit another rocket inside the near post for the 3-0 York lead with just under 23 minutes left in the game.
• The Spartans held the Seahawks off the board to record their fifth defensive shutout of the year.
