YORK, Pa. - The Spartan field hockey squad was honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for academic success both individually and as a team for the 2025 season.
As a group, the Spartans were one of just 78 Division III programs presented with the National Academic Team Award. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon programs that have achieved a remarkable team grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year.
On an individual level, 19 Spartans landed on the National Academic Squad which recognizes individuals who have attained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current academic year, and who have been nominated by their dedicated NFHCA member coaches. Additionally, eight members of the York field hockey team earned Scholars of Distinction honors which recognizes undergraduate student-athletes who have exhibited exceptional academic excellence, achieving a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher throughout the fall semester of the 2025-26 academic year. York led the MAC Commonwealth in both the number of National Academic Squad honorees and Scholars of Distinction.
