SALISBURY, MD – With 42 seconds remaining in the second overtime period, Salisbury's Sarah Jessilonis knocked in a knee-ball to give her squad a 1-0 victory over York College in Capital Athletic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon. The victory improves the Sea Gulls' record to 4-2-3 and 2-0-1 in conference while the Spartans drop to 4-3-1 overall including 2-1 in league play.

As time quickly ticked away in the second overtime period, Salisbury earned a corner kick on their right side of the pitch. Kelli Slater struck a high lofted service into the middle of the six-yard box. When the ball came free only yards from the Spartan goal, Jessilonis stuck her knee into the fray to poke in the game-winner.

For the game's first 100 minutes, the Spartans dominated the action, controlling play for much of regulation and the initial overtime period. York had several dangerous chances in the 90 minutes prior to overtime, highlighted by a bombardment of the Sea Gull defensive third in the latter portion of the second half, but were simply unable to find the back of the net.

Conversely, Salisbury turned on the pressure in the second overtime, grabbing three corner kicks and rattling off three shots, while the Spartans could only manage one corner and zero attempts at goal.

York held a 15-5 bulge in shots, for the game but were unable to get a shot off in either overtime period. The Spartans also edged Salisbury in corners 6-5.
Geena Goodson registers the win for the Sea Gulls, recording six saves in her 109:18 of work. Desiree Halaka (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) made two saves in goal for the Spartan side.

York returns to action on Wednesday, October 1, when they host 2007 NCAA Finalist Messiah. The Falcons, who ousted the Spartans from the NCAA tournament last season, will match-up with the York side at 4:00 pm.
