Spartan Women’s Golf Opens Season at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The York College women's golf team opened the fall portion of their 2026-27 season by finishing 10th out of 13 teams at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted by Denison University at the Denison Golf Club September 5 and 6.

Washington (Mo.) won the overall team title by shooting 23-over par through rounds, edging out Randolph-Macon by one stroke. Denison (+55) finished third, Kenyon (+64) came in fourth and Christopher Newport (+68) rounded out the top-five. The Spartans finished +110 for the weekend with a total score of 654 (304 + 350).

Junior Ava Johnsen led the way for York by finishing 21st overall with a total score of 161 (+16) and carded the lowest round of the weekend for York with a 75 in round one. Senior Lily Davis finished 35th with a total score of 167 (+22). Junior Samiya Bodalia finished 47th overall with a two-round score of 261 (+29). Freshman Nicole Tarquinio (63rd) and senior Rachel Koengetter (68th) rounded out the lineup with Tarquinio carding a 188 (+43) and Koengetter firing a 201 (+56) for the weekend.

The Spartans return to the course on Sunday for a round one of the Toftrees Invitational hosted by Penn State Altoona at Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, Pa.
