LEXINGTON, Va. – The York women's soccer team traveled to Virginia to face No. 3 Washington & Lee Generals, Saturday afternoon. The Spartans were able to hold the Generals to one goal heading into halftime. In the second half, Washington & Lee scored two more goals to capture a 3-0 win.

How It Happened
Washington & Lee netted its first goal in the 30th minute. Emily Burke scored, placing the ball in the lower left corner.
The Spartans put some pressure on the Generals defense in the 30th minute when
Meg Kalthof fired two shots on target, both saved by the keeper.
After the half, York allowed goals in the 75th and 80th minutes.
Washington & Lee out-shot the Spartans, 21-6. The Generals also had more corner kick opportunities, sporting a 14-5 margin.
York had five shots on target. Kalthof was credited with two, while
Gabby Jennings,
Carissa Baugus,
Lexi Mazzella each had one.
Spartan Notes
York is now 0-4-1 all-time against the Generals having lost in each of the last three regular seasons … York drops their first game against a nationally ranked opponent on the year.
