Huey Tallies Twice as Men’s Soccer Prevails Over Lebanon Valley

YORK, Pa. - The York College men's soccer team tallied late to top Lebanon Valley, 3-2, in a back-and-forth battle at Graham Field on Saturday afternoon. Senior midfielder Gavin Huey scored twice for the Spartans, including the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.

How It Happened
Gavin Huey opened the scoring in the 11th minute when he unleashed a cracker while being closely guarded 25 yards out from goal and put York up, 1-0.

The Dutchmen countered before the end of the first half when Gavin Rapp netted an equalizer in the 26th minute of play. Rapp applied high pressure which forced a breakdown of the Spartan backline and Rapp was able to hit a chip shot into the back of the net for his fourth tally of the season.

Momentum shifted back to the Spartans when Aiden Hall successfully converted a penalty kick in the 66th minute.

The Dutchmen refused to go home quietly and they swung momentum back to their side with another equalizer by Rapp. Will Burton carried the ball into the right side of the box and swung a cross to the left side of the box where a streaking Rapp one-touched the cross into the goal.

With the game up for grabs, it was the Spartans who showed resilience and seized the moment. Elaiwe Ikpi served a low line drive pass in from the right corner while Huey fought his way through traffic to meet the ball and redirect it into goal for his second of the day which held up as the game winning tally.
