YORK, Pa. - the York College Spartans faced off with St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans started off with a bang, scoring in the first minute of the match. Both sides were at a stalemate until the fourth quarter when York added an insurance goal to defeat the Seahawks, 2-0.

How it Happened
The Spartans were awarded a penalty corner in the first minute.
Hannah Downs sent the ball to
Kate Egan, who was set up at the far post. Egan knocked it past the outstretched goalkeeper to take an early 1-0 lead.
York scored their insurance goal in the 54th minute. The Spartans executed again on a penalty corner.
Olivia Miller spotted
Claire Burrows, who struck the ball in the back of the cage.
The Spartans took 26 shots with 19 of them being on target. York also led in penalty corners opportunities, 19-0.
York's defense held St. Mary's to just three shots, with only one being on target. Spartan keeper,
Abby Smith, was credited with a save, recording a clean sheet. This was Smith's first shut-out of the season.
