Volleyball Defeats Immaculata in Saturday Split

YORK, Pa. - The Spartan women's volleyball team split a home tri-match with Immaculata and FDU-Florham on Saturday. The Spartans defeated the Mighty Macs, 3-0, in the opening match of the day before falling, 3-2, to the Devils in the final contest of the day.

How It Happened
The Spartans ground out a three-set win over Immaculata by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-20. After trailing 20-18 in the third, York closed out the match in dominant fashion by ripping off seven unanswered points on their way to hitting .364 in the final frame. Gracie Plunkert led the all players with 10 kills in the match to go along with two blocks. Maddie Hoffman led all players with nine service aces and 21 assists, while Sami Baer led all players with 14 digs.

York overcame a late deficit to pull out a 27-25 win over FDU-Florham in the first set before the Devils rolled to a 25-17 victory and a 25-14 win to take the lead. The Spartans evened up the match with a 25-23 win the fourth set, but ran out of steam in the fifth set as the Devils won the set, 15-9, to claim the match. Saniya Esters led all players with 21 kills in the match.
