Baseball Falls to Messiah in MAC Commonwealth Semifinal Series Opener

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The York baseball team opened up the MAC Commonwealth semi-final series on Friday. The No.4 Spartans fell in game to the No.1 Falcons, 12-5.

How It Happened
A grand slam and an RBI-double by Messiah in the bottom of the first put the Spartans in an early 5-0 hole. 

The Falcons added another in then third, extending the lead to 6-0. 

York grabbed two runs in the top of the fifth on an 2-RBI single from Lucas Prendergast

Messiah responded three 2-run homers in the sixth (1) and eighth (2), building on their lead to make it 12-2. 

The Green and White came alive in the top of the ninth, as Matthew Wade knocked a 2-RBI double down the line. 

Bryce Avery later scored on a Jackson Ford groundout, but the Spartans were held off from there. 

Konnor Reeser got the start for York, tossing 5.1 innings. Reeser allowed seven runs on eight hits, striking out three Falcons along the way. 

Eric Chaney followed in relief, allowing five runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings of work. 

Eric Wolfer recorded a clean 0.1 IP.
