Baseball Falls to Hood in Series Opener

FREDERICK, Md. - The York Spartan baseball team opened up a three-game series against Hood, Friday afternoon. The Spartans fell short, dropping the first game of the series, 5-2.

Highlights 
In the bottom of the first inning, the Blazers quickly took a 2-0 lead on two RBI singles. 

York tied it up in the fourth inning. Ryan Niedzialkowski plated the Green and White's first run, scoring Brett Michael. Jackson Ford tied the game on a RBI double, bringing home Matthew Wade

Hood regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth. The Blazers then tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh, claiming the 5-2 victory. 

Konnor Reeser started on the mound for the Spartans. He threw four innings, surrending three runs on eight hits and two walks. Reeser struck out four Blazers. 

Jake Ludwig came in for relief and pitched three innings for York. He allowed two runs and two hits while also walking one. 

Sam Ross pitched the eighth inning, recording a clean sheet. 

Joe Urban led Spartan hitters, going three-for-three with a double. 

Notes
York is now 11-8 all-time against Hood… the Spartans are now 5-5 on the road against the Blazers… The Green and White now hold a 3-7 record in their last 10 match-ups against Hood.

York is set to conclude the series on Saturday, as they host the Blazers for a doubleheader at Jaquet Field. First pitch is slated for noon.
