YORK, Pa. - York College Baseball hosted Albright for a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans split on the day, dropping game one 3-2 and winning game two, 10-4, taking the series against the Lions.

The Lions plated the first run of the game in the top half of the third on a Michael Avino RBI single.Â
Albright tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning. John Pecoraro singled to right field, scoring Chris Gorla and Tyler Boccelli, extending the Lion lead to 3-0.Â
In the bottom half of the sixth, York scored its first run of the game.
Dawson Shelley singled to right field, brining in
Luke Moser.Â
The Spartans threatened again in the bottom of the seventh.
Lucas Prendergast led off the inning with a walk, and
Ryan Niedzialkowski followed with a single.
Alex Neeld laid down a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runners into scoring position.
Richard Kline had a quality at-bat, hitting a sacrifice fly, scoring York's second run.
That was all the damage allowed by Lion's closer Wayne Hudson, as he secured the 3-2 victory.Â
Dillon Michaloski started for the Spartans. In six innings of work, Michaloski allowed six hits, three earned runs, and two walks. He struck out five Lions.Â
Lane Berkey came in for the final inning, recording a clean sheet while striking out two.Â

The Spartans opened up the game with a
Lucas Prendergast double.
Ryan Niedzialkowski followed with a double of his own, scoring Prendergast and giving the Spartans an early 1-0 lead.Â
Albright tied it up in the second inning on a sacrifice fly.Â
York plated two more runs in the third, regaining the lead on an
Alex Neeld RBI double and an Albright error.Â
The Lions tacked on three runs in the top of the third inning. Tyler Boccelli hit a two-run home run and later a sacrifice fly, pushing the lions ahead, 4-3.Â
After the fifth inning, the Spartan bats came alive. The Green and White scattered seven runs in three inning, including a pinch hit
Joe Urban two-run homer.Â
Brian McDermott started on the bump, pitching six innings. He surrendered nine hits, four earned runs, and one walk. McDermott struck out two Albright batters.Â
Jake Ludwig came in for relief. In three inning of work, he allowed just two hits. Ludwig struck out two, earning him his second save of the season.Â
Notes
York is now 13-1 all-time against Albright … the Spartans snapped their 12-game win streak over the Lions in game one … Prendergast now has a fourteen-game hit streak, going 6-for-7 in the doubleheader, including three doubles.Â
