Spartans Lock Up Third Seed as Rowe Sets Points Record

YORK, Pa. - The York men's basketball team locked up the third seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Men's Basketball Championship with an 85-73 victory over Widener at home on Wednesday night.

Spartan senior guard Jayden Rowe dropped a career-high tying 35 points on the night to set the program's single-season points record with 612 on the year.

Widener: 7-17 (4-9 MACC)
York: 19-5 (9-4 MACC)

Highlights
After a back-and-forth start, Jayden Rowe knocked down the first of three-straight three-pointers with 11:43 left in the first half which put the Spartans in the lead the rest of the way. York stretched the first-half to as much as 13 with a Tate Landis three-pointer with 3:42 left before the break, but the Pride closed the half strong and cut the deficit to single digits as York owned a 47-41 halftime lead. Rowe led all players with 23 at the break, while Landis joined Widener's Jay-Nelly Reyes and Myless Bright with 10 each.

York regained a 13-point lead three minutes into the second half when Landis knocked another three to bring his total to 13 on the night. The Spartan lead hovered around double-digits throughout most of the second half until the Pride whittled it down to six with 1:55 on three-straight free throws by Bright. Those would end up being the last buckets by the Pride as York finished the game on a 6-0 run to seal the win.

Rowe led all players with 35 points and a career-high tying eight assists to go along with five rebounds. Landis poured in 15 points and Ben Troyer compiled 12 points and a team-leading four steals. Rowe also posted 35 points in the first meeting with Widener this season and now has eight games this season with 30 or more points.
