Buzzer Beater Lifts Spartans to Victory at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - An improbable buzzer beater lifted the York College men's basketball to an 87-85 victory at Stevenson on Wednesday.

In one swift motion, Ethan Glass hauled in a rebound at the foul line and catapulted a shot into the hoop just before time expired to clinch the win for York. The referees used video review to confirm the decision that the ball in fact left Glass' hands in time.

Tate Landis carried the Spartans throughout the night with a career-high 37 points, followed by Jayden Rowe with 25 and Cooper Haberern with 10.

How It Happened
The Spartans scored the first points of the game and never trailed throughout the contest despite numerous close calls and rallies by the Mustangs. York led by as much as 11 at the midway point of the first half, but Stevenson cut that lead down to just one four minutes later before York closed the half on a 15-9 run to take a 50-43 halftime lead.

Stevenson whittled the score back down to a one-possession difference five minutes into the second half, but York ripped off a 21-8 run to take a 16-point lead, their largest of the game, with 7:15 left to play. The Mustangs abruptly responded with 12 unanswered points over the next three minutes and cut York's lead down to one with 2:03 left as the Spartans went over minutes without a made field goal.

Tate Landis ended the drought with a layup at 1:37 left, but Noah Iehzue responded with a three-pointer on Steven's ensuing possession to tie the game for the first and only time all night. The Mustangs failed to get another shot off the rest of the way and ended up turning the ball over with two seconds left.

Stevenson's turnover gave York an inbound opportunity at mid court which led to missed three-point attempt by Landis followed by the remarkable rebound and game-winning putback by Ethan Glass at the buzzer.

Up Next
The Spartans return home on Saturday for a Commonwealth contest against Eastern slated for a 3 p.m. start time.
