Spartans Finish 14th at Rain-Shortened Mason-Dixon Classic

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Spartan men's golf team finished 14th out of 21 teams at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic co-hosted by Gettysburg College and McDaniel College at Waynesboro Country Club.

Heavy rain from Hurricane Isaias forced the cancellation of round two on Sunday so Saturday's round one scores determined the final standings. The Spartans shot a combined 302 (+14) to finish in 14th place. Swarthmore finished first with a 282 (-6), followed by Gettysburg A (-2), Gettysburg B (-2), Roanoke (-2) and Stevenson (+3) in the top-five.

Adam Gorman led the way for York in 22nd-place as he fired a 73 (+1). Alex Kaun finished tied for 42nd overall with a 74 (+2), followed by Thomas O'Connell (+3) in 50th-place, Kyan DeLong (+8) and Luke Sabina (+9) who rounded out the York lineup.

The Spartans will return to competition on Oct. 19-20 at the York College Fall Invitational at the Country Club of York.
