Rowe Pours in 35 as Spartans Light it Up at Widener

YORK, Pa. - The York College men's basketball led wire-to-wire and scored over 90 points for the third time this season in a dominant 93-67 Commonwealth victory at Widener on Wednesday night.

Jayden Rowe led the way with a career-high 35 points in his fifth 30-point game of the season. Cooper Haberern (17), Tate Landis (13) and Ben Troyer (13) also landed in double figures as York shot 48.5% from the field.

How It Happened
The Spartans opened the game on a break-neck pace behind a white hot offensive performance by Jayden Rowe who scored 21 points in just under seven minutes of play to give York a 27-8 lead with 13:10 left in the first half. York's pace leveled off as the half wore on as they shot 7-for-20 the rest of the way to take a 48-34 lead into the midway break. Rowe led all players with 26 points at halftime with York shooting 51.5% from the field, including 50.0% from three-point range.

The two teams traded blows through the first 10 minutes of the second half before a 12-2 York run put the Spartans up by 25 with 7:26 to play and their lead never fell below 20 points the rest of the way. Cooper Haberern put the game out of reach as his three-pointer with 3:09 left lifted the Spartans into a 32-point advantage. Haberern led the charge throughout the second half as he poured in 17 points, followed by Rowe with nine and Ben Troyer with eight.

The Spartans hit the road again on Saturday for a Commonwealth contest at Messiah at 3 p.m.

York improved to 6-8 all-time against Widener and has won the last three meetings with the Pride … the Spartans remain unblemished away from home at 7-0, while the Pride are now 4-6 on their home floor … York has now scored over 90 points in three games this season, including two in conference play … the Spartans matched their season-high with 12 steals on the night with Tate Landis leading the way with four … Jayden Rowe established a new career-high point total for the second time in three games after draining 35 on a 13-for-21 (61.9%) performance … Landis dished out a season-high eight assists which ties Rowe for the most in a single game this season.
