Spartans and Eagles Fit to be Tied on Tuesday night in York

The Spartans and Eagles failed to score in a 0-0 tie on Tuesday

YORK, PA – The York College men's soccer squad battled Juniata College to a scoreless tie on Tuesday evening in York.
The game was defensively oriented all night as neither team could get any offensive traction.
York is now 4-3-4 overall while Juniata is 5-2-4.

How It Happened
• York's best first half chance came on back-to-back corner kicks as Dylan Marco was able to put a header on goal that was saved by Juniata goalie Maxwell Mattioni. The Eagles got their shot on goal just before the half. The Eagles out-shot the Spartans 5-2 in the first half but both teams had just one shot on goal. York had a slight 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
• Both teams had a few near chances in the second half but nothing that would be labeled as particularly dangerous. The Eagles did have a flurry in the final ten seconds of the game as Nathan Weick forced Chase Broughman to make a save which also created a corner kick. In the scramble off the corner kick the ball pinged around the box before the horn blew ending the game.
• Each team had eight total shots and two shots on goal for the game. York held a 7-2 margin in corner kicks

Spartan Notes
York continues to lead the all-time series 24-3-2 but the last two matches have resulted in ties … York has now been shutout in three games this year … the Spartans' eight shots were a season-low while their two shots on goal were also a season low …. Chase Broughman played 74:08 and made two saves in the Spartans' clean sheet effort … Jake Bono started the second half but had to come out of the game after 15:52 of play.
