How It Happened
The Diplomats and Spartans played a scoreless first half with Franklin & Marshall owning a 4-3 edge in total shots, a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-2 margin in corner kicks.

The game's first goal came late into the game when Ricky Cicmanec headed the ball home in the 74th minute of play. The Spartans earned a set piece opportunity following a yellow card issued to F&M's Thomas Kaplan. Colin Findlay took the free kick for the Spartans from 23 yards out from the goal near the left sideline and sent the goal soaring deep into the box where Cicmanec deflected it in with his head from seven yards out.

The Diplomats regrouped quickly and netted the equalizer in the 82nd minute. Nico Gonzalez started the play as he unleashed a long range shot that was knocked down by keeper Chase Broughman, but deflected back up the middle of the field. Ethan Howard easily corralled the rebound and one-touched the ball over the Spartan defense into the net for the game-tying tally.
