Box Score DALLAS, PA – The York College men's soccer team went on the road and now head back to York with a 2-1 win over Misericordia on Saturday after a trip to Dallas, PA.
The Spartans got two first half goals before surrendering a penalty kick goal inside the final minute to provide for the final score.
York is now 4-1-3 overall while Misericordia falls to 2-3-2.
How It Happened
• The Spartans got on the board in the 26
th minute to take the early lead. The Spartans had a corner kick cleared out but the Spartans were able to trap the ball inside of the midfield. The Spartans switched sides to a wide-open
Dylan Marco. Marco launched a long pass towards the right post. Marco's pass found the head of
Gavin Huey flicked a header inside the post for a 1-0 Spartan lead. The goal was Huey's team-leading fourth of the year.
• In the 37
th minute, the Spartan pressure led to another goal.
Owen Henderlite ripped a long range shot that was saved. The ball rebounded to the outside of the box where
Shaun Apsley collected the loose ball, took a number of dribbles before unleashing a filthy shot that tucked inside the right post for the 2-0 lead.
• The second half saw both teams having some ample scoring opportunities. Neither team would covert until the final minute. With 18 seconds left the Spartans were whistled for a foul on the edge of the box. It looked like the original call gave the Cougars a kick outside the box. After a short period of time before the restart, the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick. Max Jamieson converted the opportunity to spoil the Spartan shutout.
• The Spartans finished the game with an 18-7 edge in total shots while York also had an 8-5 margin in shots on goal. Both teams had seven corner kicks in the game.

York is now 5-2 all-time against Misericordia as they have won two straight in the series … York is now 3-0-2 away from Graham Field this fall …
Gavin Huey has now scored in three of the Spartans' last four games ... sophomore
Chase Broughman made four saves in the win for the Spartans as he remains unbeaten.

The Spartans continue their road trip on Tuesday evening as they head to Gettysburg College to face the Bullets in a non-conference contest. Game time in Gettysburg is set for 7:00 pm.
