YORK, PA – In a battle of NHFCA Top 15 teams, the #3 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays outlasted #14 York College 1-0 in double overtime in a highly entertaining non-conference match at York on Wednesday night.
The teams have played back-to-back overtime games with each team picking up an extra session victory.
The Blue Jays improve to 5-1 overall while the Spartans fall to 4-2.

How It Happened
• The Spartans had one of their best chances of the game early as
Bella Reiss forced a Hopkins turnover deep in their defensive third. By the time she settled the miscue Hopkins had a defender recover and block the opportunity. The Spartans out shot the Blue Jays 3-1 in the opening quarter.
• The second quarter was offensively baron as both teams really had the other locked down defensively.
• Hopkins had some offensive spark in the third quarter, out shooting York 4-2. Junior defender
Becca Olsen had a big say in keeping the Blue Jays off the board as she notched a pair of defensive saves in the quarter to keep the game scoreless heading to the fourth.
• York had two good chances in the fourth quarter but Hopkins goalie Aubrey Kilgore turned away the two shots as the teams headed to an extra session.
• With overtime being more open, the offenses were able to flow a little better. York had a 2-1 edge in shots in the first overtime but Hopkins kicked it up a gear in the second overtime before finally scoring with 1:44 left in the game. Grace Waldeck took a ball in the center of the circle and found Julie Widen who poked home the pass for the game-winner.
• The stats couldn't have been closer for the two teams. York held a very slight 12-11 total shots while the Blue Jays had a 9-5 edge in shots on goal and also 9-5 margin on penalty corners.
Abby Smith made six saves in goal for the Spartans while Aubrey Kilgore recorded five saves in the shutout win.
