Spartans Dominate Bryn Mawr to Celebrate Senior Day

YORK, Pa. - The York women's soccer team had command from start to finish and handed Bryn Mawr their first loss of the season with a 4-0 result at Graham Field on Sunday.

Junior Carissa Baugus handed out three assists and senior Lexi Mazzella scored a career-high two goals. Junior Meg Kalthof also netted a goal to increase her team-leading total to five in her final campaign with York.

Team Records
Bryn Mawr 5-1-0
York 5-2-0

How It Happened
The Spartans opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Lexi Mazzella headed in a goal following a well-placed serve from Carissa Baugus on a corner set piece.

Mazzella tacked on another goal on yet another corner set piece in the 47th minute. After the corner service from Baugus deep into the box, Mackenzie Hanley headed the ball forward towards the goal mouth where Mazella one-touched it past a sprawling Bryn Mawr keeper, Lily Blackmon.

The scoring continued for York through the early minutes of the second half as Meg Kalthof found the back of the net for the fifth time this season. Baugus and Kalthof played a game of give-and-go up the left side before Kalthof lofted a shot from 19-yards out that snuck under the bar after brushing off the fingertips of Blackmon.

York put together another well-executed corner set play in the 77th minute of play when Emma Woods swung a pass in from the right corner to the rising head of Mia Mervis who put it in for her first collegiate goal.
