Spartan Men’s Soccer Rolls to Victory at Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. - The York men's soccer team scored early and late in a 2-0 victory at Lancaster Bible on Saturday.

The Spartans improved their unbeaten streak to four games with a record of 3-0-1 and notched their second-straight shutout of the season.

Team Records
York 3-1-2
Lancaster Bible 2-2-1

How It Happened
The Spartans did not need long to get on the board as Gavin Huey punched in a goal in the fourth minute of play. Owen Henderlite created the opportunity as he swung a cross in from the right sideline to the box where Huey lunged in front of a Charger defender and sent a flying header into the net for his third tally of the season.

York would go on to produce a 6-1 margin in total shots through the first half of play with five of those shots landing on target.

The Spartans continued to out-perform the Chargers in the second half as evidence of a 10-3 short margin. Eventually, York's pressure mounted and as a result another goal went up on the board in the 89th minute. Talen Popolis started the play with a 20-yard lead pass which sprung Trey Dwyer free up the side. Dwyer one-touched a pass to the middle where a streaking Ricky Cicmanec one-touched a shot into the lower left corner of the net for his first goal of the season.

Up Next
The Spartans return home on Wednesday night for a non-conference tilt with Franklin & Marshall at 7 p.m.
