Team Records
#14 York 3-1
#22 Swarthmore 2-3

How It Happened
After a scoreless first half, the Spartans wasted little time getting on the board first with a goal off a corner set play 39 seconds out of the break. After a Hannah Downs insert, Becca Olsen threw the ball towards the cage where it took a deflection off a Swarthmore defender into the net. Claire Burrows also played a key role on the play as she positioned herself perfectly in front of Garnet goalie Cassandra Conklin which prevented Conklin from getting a clean read on the play.

The Garnet did not take long to rally and punched in an equalizer four minutes later. Gabriella Vasquez received a pass from Emma Duffield directly in front of the goal, turned and slipped a shot through the outstretched leg of Abby Smith.

Four minutes after tying the game, Swarthmore took the lead with a goal off a corner. Amelia Landry reached her stick out and deflected a hard shot by Erin Coyle from the left slot into the back of the net.

The Spartans responded with just seconds left in the third quarter with a goal on another corner set play. Olsen collected the insert at the top of the circle and swung a pass to Olivia Miller in the high right slot who unleashed a rocket through traffic and into the cage for a decisive tying goal.

After a rather uneventful fourth quarter, the game went into extra time and York withstood a barrage of shots by the Garnet in the first overtime period. Smith stood on her head with three saves to keep Swarthmore off the board and force a second session.

York rode the momentum from a tough defensive stand and needed just 39 seconds into the second OT to clinch the win. On yet another corner, Olsen shot the ball in from the point to Burrows who deflected it off the pads of Conklin. Burrows managed to frantically recover and slipped a shot past conklin and a swarm of Swarthmore defenders for the dramatic game-winning goal,
