Spartans Roll Past Albright in Commonwealth Opener

Garabo Earns 50th Win as Spartan Goalie

YORK, Pa. - The eighth-ranked women's lacrosse team met little resistance in a 19-2 victory over Albright at home on Saturday's as York opened Commonwealth play.

How It Happened
The Spartans opened the game on a 13-0 run and put the game into running clock 21 minutes after the opening draw. York nearly had a first-half shutout if not for a Riley Basht tally with 1:07 remaining before halftime as the Spartans took a 13-1 lead into the break.

Zoe Kluegel, Sydney Mentzer, Sofie Steel, Logan Ward and Kiera McPhillips all scored a pair of goals on York's 13-goal run with Ward leading the way overall with three points. Bella Garabo posted five saves in her 30-minute appearance while facing nine total shots.

Steel opened the second-half scoring and achieved a hat trick for the first time this season. Leah Vacin led York with two goals in the second half, while Leigha Sauerbaugh and Abby Tartal each tallied their first-career goals.
