Men’s Lacrosse Blanks Alvernia in Conference Clash

YORK, Pa. - The No. 16 York men's lacrosse team posted their four shutout in program history with a 27-0 victory over Alvernia at home on Wednesday.

How It Happened
The Spartans took a 17-0 lead at the halftime break after scoring 11 goals in the second quarter alone. Gavin Gismondi Davis Fisher each had six points in the first half to lead the Spartan offense. Gismondi led the goal scoring with four tallies to go along with two assists. Fisher dished out four assists and scored twice.

York held Alvernia to just six total shots in the first half while the Golden Wolves turned the ball over 16 times and went 7-for-16 on the clear.

Nine different Spartans accounted for the 10 goals scored in the second half with Sean O'Reilly tallying twice. Jake Jackson and Joey Yukenavitch each tallied their first goals of the season late in the fourth quarter. Eric Kaplan handed out a pair of second-half assists.

York is now 5-0 all-time against Alvernia … York is averaging 21.8 goals per game against the Golden Wolves in five meetings … the Spartans now have four shutouts in program history and two in the last four years … York's 27 goals scored is tied for third-most in program history and the 27-goal margin is second-most … in addition to goals, York also posted season-highs in assists (21), shots (59), shots on goal (43), ground balls (51) and caused turnovers (13) on Wednesday night … Alvernia was held to their lowest shot total (11) the two years … York is 6-1 on Kinsley Field this season and Alvernia is 4-2 on the road … Gavin Gismondi led the Spartans with four goals and Davis Fisher led the way with four assists as each totaled seven points … Zach Rutledge led the defense with a career-best five caused turnovers on the night.
