#16 Women’s Lacrosse Locks Down #8 W&L

LEXINGTON, Va. - The 16th-ranked York women's lacrosse team picked up their second road win of the week with a dominant 12-5 victory at No. 8 Washington and Lee on Saturday.

Team Records
#16 York 3-1
#8 Washington and Lee 5-3

How It Happened
The Spartans weathered some early turbulence brought on by the General offense and managed to get out of the first quarter tied, 1-1. After W&L scored early in the quarter, the Spartan defense was stout the rest of the way and Bella Garabo made three saves including one a free-position attempt.

The field tilted in York's favor in the second quarter as the Spartans compiled a 5-1 advantage in draw controls and owned a 3-2 edge in goals to take a 4-3 halftime lead.

Despite going just 1-for-6 at the draw in the third quarter, the Spartans took advantage of some W&L miscues and went on a 4-0 to start the quarter capped by a Gianna Huet woman-up goal.

Lara Baki scored back-to-back goals for the Generals as W&L trailed 8-5 with 12:05 left in the fourth. From there, the Generals failed to find the back of the net again as they were denied five more times by Garabo. The Spartans ended the game with four-straight goals in the final six minutes to put a bow on the big road victory.

Up Next
The Spartans wrap up their four-game road trip with a visit to their Route 30 rivals No. 6 Gettysburg next Saturday.
