MARSHALL, TEXAS – The York College softball team closed out their spring trip as they split their final series of the trip with LeTourneau on a stormy Saturday in Marshall, Texas.
The Yellow Jackets captured game one 14-6 in six innings and the Spartans earned the split with a wild 14-13 win in the nightcap
The Spartans conclude their trip 2-8 overall while LeTourneau is now 8-8.

How It Happened
• LeTourneau jumped on the Spartans early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to seize the early advantage. York responded with their biggest inning of the year to date as they scored six in the top of the second inning.
Rylee Dreyer drew a bases loaded walk to get York on the board.
Jordyn Woodling then had a two-run single up the middle to put York on top 3-2.
Gretchen Barstad had an infield single to plate the fourth run of the frame.
Emma Wade then drove in two with a single up the middle to give York a 6-2 lead.
• The Spartans handed a run to the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the second on a dropped fly ball with two outs as LeTourneau got an unearned run. LeTourneau tied the game in the third inning with a three-run frame. A bases loaded walk pushed home the first Yellow Jacket run of the frame followed by a Spartan error on a fielder's choice. The third run came on a fielder's choice as the Spartan lead evaporated in just two innings.
• After a quiet fourth inning, the Yellow Jackets plated a pair on a Jenna Rosson double to center, giving LeTourneau the 8-6 lead. LeTourneau finished off the game with a six spot in the bottom of the sixth. The Yellow Jackets scored six runs on five hits with two errors and three walks as the game ended due to the run rule.

How It Happened
• Game two started with the Spartans jumping out to a 3-0 after one half inning of play.
Gretchen Barstad had a two run double to center and came around to score on a
Kate Miller sacrifice fly to center.
• The Yellow Jackets answered right back in the bottom of the second with a four-run inning aided by four Spartan errors as LeTourneau took a 4-3 lead. York bounced right back to recapture the lead in the third. Barstad ripped a solo homer to right to lead off the inning.
Morgan Sauers scored the next two with a two-run single to center as York took a 6-4 lead.
• The Spartans added two more in the fourth as Barstad blasted a two-run shot to center, increasing the Spartan lead to 8-4. York tacked on two more runs in the fifth as
Jordyn Woodling doubled to right center to plate a pair and push the lead to 10-5.
• The Yellow Jackets refused to go quietly as they erupted for a five-run bottom of the fifth, slicing the Spartan lead to 10-9. LeTourneau scored their five runs on three hits, four walks and a Spartan error.
• The sixth inning was a wild one as the Spartan scored four times to take the 14-9 lead.
Emma Wade had a two-run single while
Alexis McDonaugh drove in Wade with an RBI single.
Rylee Dreyer scored McDonaugh with a two out single up the middle. LeTourneau answered with a four run rally of their own as the Spartan lead was again just one.
• LeTourneau got their lead off runner on in the seventh but Barstad was able to pitch around the base runner and preserve the win.
