York Falls to Salisbury in Top-10 Tilt

YORK, Pa. - The No. 9 Spartan women's lacrosse team could not overcome an early deficit in a 10-7 loss to No. 6 Salisbury at home on Saturday afternoon.

Team Records
#6 Salisbury 6-3
#9 York 6-3

How It Happened
The Sea Gulls came out hot and put two goals on the board within the first three minutes, but the Spartans gained their footing and tied the game up with a Sydney Mentzer goal with 2:53 left in the first.

Salisbury scored twice in the final two minutes of the first quarter which sparked a four-goal run deep into the second quarter, headlined by a pair of goals by Audrey Harrington. That run proved vital for the Sea Gulls as it forced the Spartans to play from behind the rest of the way.

Both teams drew even in the second half with four goals each, including a 3-3 shootout in the fourth quarter. The Spartans had a glimmer of momentum as they cut the deficit to three with 9:45 left following back-to-back goals by Gianna Huet, but a costly turnover a minute later on York's only failed clear of the game resulted in a Alexandra Parker goal for the Gulls.

Up Next
The Spartans remain home for a Wednesday evening matchup with No. 25 Mary Washington.
