How It Happened
• After a quiet first inning, the Spartans plated four runs in the bottom of the second.
Chris Nesensohn began the scoring with a two run single to center. York then loaded the bases before
Michael Tinneny dumped a single into shallow right field for the third run of the inning.
Alex Neeld pushed home the fourth run with an RBI fielder's choice to close out the scoring in the inning.
• Eastern got on the board in the third with a single run while York answered with two in the bottom of the inning.
Lucas Prendergast had a two-run single to right to put the Spartans up 6-1. Eastern again got a single run in the top of the fourth while the Spartans answered with another three spot in the bottom of the frame. All three runs came courtesy of a three-run bomb to right center from
Matthew Wade as York had a 9-2 lead.
• The lead evaporated quickly in the top of the fifth as the Eagles fashioned a five run uprising to trim the lead to 9-7. The Eagles got the five runs on just three hits but one of those hits was a Luke Meehan grand slam.
• York bounced right back as they put together a five-run bottom of the fifth of their own.
Gabe Trevena began the scoring in the inning with an RBI triple. He scored on a Tinneny single to left.
Joe Urban made it 13-7 with a two run double down the left field line. Urban scored on a Wade RBI single to center as the lead was back to seven at 14-7.
• Eastern continued to come at the Spartans with a single run in the top of the sixth but York answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Tinneny had a two run single to increase the lead to 16-8.
• The scoring frenzy continued in the seventh as the Eagles put together their second five-run inning of the game, cutting the lead to an uncomfortable 16-13. Prendergast finished off his big day with a two-run laser to right to provide for the final runs of the game.
• The Eagles got single runners on base in the top of the eighth and ninth innings but would be unable to creep any closer as York hung on for the five-run victory to clinch the series win.
