#2 RIT 4-0

How It Happened
RIT and York traded blows to start the game which resulted in a 3-3 tie with 4:26 left in the first quarter following a Colby Berard goal from a Gavin Gismondi assist. The Tigers abruptly broke open some breathing room with a three-goal run to end the first quarter with Seth Grottenthaler scoring twice on that run to give his team a 6-3 edge.

Each team tallied four goals in a second quarter shootout which resulted in a 10-7  RIT halftime lead. Four different Spartans scored, but Nate Schilling led the Spartan offense with two points on one goal and one assist. Ethan Harkins led the Tigers with two goals in the period.

Schilling stayed hot to start the third quarter as he scored twice on a three-goal Spartan run which made it a one-goal game with 7:58 left in the third. The Tigers responded less than two minutes later which started a pivotal four-goal run to end the third quarter which gave RIT a 15-10 lead.

The Spartans threw everything they had into a comeback bid as they won the scoring, faceoff and ground ball battles in the fourth quarter, but after scoring their first goal of the period with 5:32 time just ran out for the Green and White.

Notes
York is now 0-7 all-time against RIT … the last three meetings have been decided by three goals or less … Spartan freshman Nate Schilling led all players with a season-high four goals … Schilling and Gavin Gismondi each had five points which tied for the game-high … Spartan goalie Nash Womack posted 11 saves and has double-digit saves in all four games this season.
