YORK, Pa. - The York men's lacrosse capped off a 2-0 week with a 13-10 victory over Endicott at  home on Sunday.

York overcame a first-quarter deficit and posted a shutout in the second quarter which proved pivotal in a high-scoring back-and-forth battle.

Team Records
(RV) Endicott 4-3
(RV) York 5-2

How It Happened
Both teams came out firing and made their chances count as Endicott put all nine of their first-quarter shots on goal and York put seven of their nine shots on target. Davis Fisher tallied a pair for the Spartans which gave the Green and White a 3-2 edge with over eight minutes to play. York would not score the rest of the quarter and the Gulls went on a three-goal to end the period which was started by a man-up tally by Nick Graap.

The second quarter belonged to the Spartans as they out-scored the Gulls, 4-0, and held a 13-8 margin in total shots. Gavin Gismondi tallied a pair for York and Connor Stewart dished out two assists to lead the offensive barrage. The Spartans were also very crisp on the clear as they went 6-for-6 in the quarter while limiting Endicott to a 4-for-7 effort

The Spartans continued to stack goals as the third quarter got underway and stretched their scoring streak to six-straight with a pair of Nate Schilling tallies in the first six minutes of the quarter. A Graap goal with 5:38 left in the third stopped the York run and also put an end to a 27-minute scoring drought by the Gulls. Graap scored again seven seconds later and Jackson Hammersley found the back of the net just 12 seconds later as the Gulls strung together a trio of goals in a span of 18 seconds to cut the York lead to one (9-8) with 5:19 left in the third quarter.

York countered with a three-goal run of their own beginning with a Fisher goal late in third and finished with a Cory Bergmann tally with 9:23 left in the fourth to put the Spartans ahead, 12-8. The Gulls responded just 33 seconds later, coming off their 15th faceoff win of the day to cut York's lead to three with 8:50 left to go. Hugo Spencer came up with a crucial faceoff win for the Spartans on the ensuing draw and Endicott compounded the problem by committing a costly one-minute unnecessary roughness penalty with 8:08 left.

The Spartans made the most of their extra-man opportunity as Schilling pumped in his sixth goal of the day which would end up as the dagger to clinch the win as York took a four-goal advantage with 7:25 left. The Gulls would go on to get another goal with 3:11 left, but they struggled mightily to gain traction down the stretch as they came up empty on seven of their final eight possessions.

Notes
Sunday marked the inaugural meeting between these two relatively young but accomplished programs … both York and Endicott have been playing men's lacrosse for under 30 years and they have a combined total 20 NCAA postseason appearances between them (Endicott -12, York - 8) … York posted season-highs for ground balls (42) and caused turnovers (11), while holding Endicott to a season-worst 12-for-22 performance on the clear … Nate Schilling led all players with seven points and six goals which are both season-highs for the freshman … Davis Fisher had five points on a season-high four goals … Nash Womack posted 16 saves and has double-digit saves in all seven games this season, including four games with 16-plus saves.
