How It Happened
The Spartans wasted little time getting on the board and took a 1-0 lead less than a minute after the first draw when Gianna Huet set up Zoe Kluegel for York's first goal of the season. Huet and Kluegel also accounted for the next three Spartans goals with Huet scoring twice and Kluegel scoring once in the final 3:15 of the first quarter as York owned a 3-1 lead.

Kluegel remained dialed throughout the second quarter as accounted for three of York's five goals in the period with two goals and an assist. Natalie Neiman also posted multiple points in the second quarter with assists on back-to-back goals in the final two minutes. York owned a 9-1 lead at halftime with a 15-8 advantage in total shots.

Kate Feldman gave the Spartans 10-goal advantage (12-2) with 8:20 left in the third quarter on her first shot of the season. The Royals stopped the running clock and ended a 25-minute scoring drought with an Erin Reich tally late in the third quarter, but Neiman bumped the York lead back up to 10 with a goal in the final minute of the period.

Jillian Lopez bookended the scoring in the fourth quarter with a pair of goals and was assisted both times by Eileen Hewitt. Riley Coltenback scored the lone Spartan goal in the fourth quarter which is the first of her career.
