#19 Spartans Hold Off Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The No. 19 York men's basketball team closed out 2025 with a gritty 56-54 victory at Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday night in their first game out of the holiday break.

Spartan senior guard Jayden Rowe led all players with 25 points and paced the Spartans in rebounding with seven boards. Defensively, York held the Lions to their second-lowest point total of the season as the Green and White has now held four opponents under 70 points, including two under 60, through 10 games this year

#19 York: 9-1
Penn State Harrisburg: 6-7

How It Happened
The Spartans held the lead through the majority of the first half, but the Lions held York in check as they limited the margin to a one possession score throughout most of the first 20 minutes of play. Not until Ethan Glass knocked down a three-pointer to put the Spartans ahead 29-23 with 2:53 left in the half was York able to sustain a two-possession lead as the Green and White went into the locker room up by six (31-25) which was their largest of the first half.

Jayden Rowe led all players with 16 points at the break with seven made free throws, while Chis Henderson led the way for Harrisburg with eight. York shot 39.1% from the field, including 45.5% from three-point range, in the opening half, while the Lions shot just 30.3%.

The two teams traded buckets within the first minute of the second half before a Rowe jumper put the Spartans ahead by eight (35-27) with 18:59 left which proved to be the largest lead for either team on the night. The Lions abruptly wiped out the York lead with a 9-0 run over the next two minutes and took a 36-35 lead with 15:35 left to play.

The Spartans regained the lead on their next possession with a Rowe tip in and held the lead for over 10 minutes, leading by as much as six, before the Lions reeled York back in to force the game into a one-possession margin for the final five minutes.

Eventually, the Spartans found themselves ahead by two, 56-54, with 0:57 following a Colin Treude made free throw. Treude went on to make another big play as he hauled in a clutch defensive rebound with 11 seconds left after the Lions missed on a pair of chances to tie or take the lead.

Harrisburg still had one last chance at pulling out a victory, but a three-point attempt by Kevin Lucas with time expiring missed the mark as York escaped with the win. The miss by Lucas capped off a 1-for-5 effort from the field through the final 96 seconds and punctuated a slew of missed opportunities late by the Lions as they held possession through most of the final two minutes.

Up Next
The Spartans return home on Saturday to take on Gettysburg at 3 p.m. in their final non-conference contest of the season.

Notes
York is now 22-4 all-time against Penn State Harrisburg and has won the last six meetings with the Lions dating back to 2018 … the Spartans are 2-0 on the road this season, while the Lions are 2-4 at home … Harrisburg's 54 points is the lowest total by a York opponent this season, while the Spartans were held to under 70 points for the first time … Jayden Rowe was the lone Spartan scorer in double figures as he poured in 25 to increase his season average to 23.6 per game.
