SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College men's basketball team stayed hot with a 107-80 victory over College of Notre Dame in the semifinal round of the Susquehanna Tip-Off Tournament on Friday evening in Selinsgrove, PA. The 107 points was a new season-high for the Spartans.
The Spartans improve to 3-0 with the win while College of Notre Dame falls to 0-3.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans got off to a strong start as they led 12-2 just 2:19 into the game. The Gators then put together a 22-20 run that sliced the Spartan advantage to 37-24 with 7:30 left in the opening half. The Gators eventually cut the Spartan lead to 43-40 before the Green and White ended the half on a 9-6 run to take a 49-44 to the break.
• The first half statistics were pretty even as Notre Dame shot 48.1% (25-for-52) from the floor and 37.5 (3-for-8) from three. York converted 47.3% (26-for-55) from the field drained 40
(14-for-35) from three. The Gators held an 11-2 advantage in made free threes after 20 minutes of play.
• The Spartans came out of the half and continued to add to their lead. The Spartan lead grew to 16 on a Nick Schroeder triple five minutes into the second half. That lead would not fall below 13 the rest of the way. Cooper Haberern drilled a three with 8:03 left as the lead ballooned to 82-60.

The Spartans finished the game shooting 45.2% (19-for-42) from the floor and 39.6 (19-for-48) beyond the arc … the Spartans converted 12-for-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line … Notre Dame shot 44.3% (27-for-61) from the field including 4-13 (30.8%) from three … York out-rebounded the Gators 33-48 including 16-7 in offensive rebounds … York had a 26-3 margin in second chance points …there were just 17 combined turnovers in the game as York had just seven while Notre Dame at 10 …. Ricardo Ross led the Gators with 24 points as he was 8-for-12 from the floor including 3-for-4 from three … Lewis Marlon added 17 points to the he also had four rebounds and a blocked shot … Anthony Wright contributed nine points, three rebounds, and a pair of rebounds … Jahbrecho Dacosta pulled in 11 rebounds lead Gators on the glass..
 
SPARTAN NOTES
The meeting is the first between the Spartans and Gators … the Spartans have not shot under .456% from the field for the year … York has not made under ten three point field goals in a game this year … Cooper Haberern  led the way for the Spartans as he notched 24 points to to along with four rebounds … Jayden Rowe added 23 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists to the semifinal win … Tate Landis chipped in with 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists while senior Aleks Smith had a career-high 16 points and a career-high eight rebounds in the win.

The Spartans will play for the Susquehanna Tip Off Tournament championship on Saturday against the winner of the Suquehanna University / Kings College semifinal time. Tip off at OW Houts Gym is set for 3:00 pm.
