Spartan Men Fall Late to Eastern

York dominated the game but surrendered a late goal to the Eagles

YORK, PA – The York College men's soccer team suffered a disappointing 1-0 MAC Commonwealth loss to Eastern University on Saturday afternoon in York.
After the Spartans controlled long sections of play, the Eagles got a counter in the 80th minute for the game's lone goal.
The Spartans fall to 6-4-5 overall and 1-1-1 in the Commonwealth. The Eagles improve to 5-8-1 overall and 1-2 in the league.

How It Happened
The Spartans were in control of the game for most of the first half. The Eastern defensive unit played well and the efforts of goalie Ty Bleiler were key factors in keeping York off the scoreboard. York finished the first half with an 8-2 advantage in total shots and 4-1 in shots on goal as Bleiler had four first half stops. York had a 6-1 margin in corner kicks.
• The second half was much of the same story as York had opportunity after opportunity but saves or near misses kept the game scoreless. The Eagles broke through in the 80th minute of play as Evan Cope scooped up a loose ball at midfield and carried the ball into the box. He chipped a pass over to Haroon Husseini who was streaking down the middle of the box. Husseini calmly flipped a shot inside the right post for the game's lone goal.
• York had chances in the final ten minutes with the biggest opportunity being a penalty kick with 1:53 left in the game. The kick was saved by Bleiler and the Spartans would fall at home.
• The Spartans held a 19-6 bulge in total shots and an 8-2 margin in shots on goal. The Spartans had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
