ITHACA, N.Y. - The York women's soccer team capped off their opening weekend with a 0-0 draw at Ithaca on Sunday to remain unbeaten through the first two games of the season.

Team Records
York 1-0-1
Ithaca 1-0-1

How It Happened
The two teams combined for 28 total shots on the day with Ithaca owning a 17-11 advantage, but each team only managed to put three on target throughout the entirety of the contest.

The Spartan defense stifled the Bombers through the first half as they held the host offense to just one shot on goal which resulted in a Joss Metz save in the 42nd minute.

Alyssa Russell and Carly Vincent each had a shot on target in the first half for the Spartans as the two teams stood even with five shots a piece at the halftime break.

York had a flurry of opportunities in the first 15 minutes of the second half with two corner kicks and a total of three shots during that span by Meg Kalthof and Julianna Schilling, but were unable to find pay dirt.

The Bombers turned up the pressure as the second half unfolded and out-shot the Spartans, 12-6, in the final 45 minutes. York snuffed out a dangerous sequence beginning in the 63rd minute as the Bombers produced three quick shots combined with a corner kick to which Ithaca came away empty. Later, Metz made her final save of the contest in the 84th minute to punctuate a stellar defensive effort by the Green and White.

Notes
Joss Metz picked up her first-career clean sheet as she made three saves on the day on 17 total shots faced … Meg Kalthof led all players with five total shots … Ithaca had a pair of players each register three total shots … Ithaca maintains the lead in the all-time series, 1-0-1
