LAS VEGAS, NV – The York College closed out their stay at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships as the Spartans missed the cut on day two of the tournament. The Spartans finished 26
th with a two-day score of 605 after carding a 306 during the tournament's second round. York played their second round at the Legacy Golf Club.

The Spartans finished 17 strokes out of making the cut as Wittenberg and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tied for 17
th in the final slot of teams making the cut at 588. Redlands, who played with the Spartans on Wednesday, lead the way with a team score of 563. Kenyon is second followed by Methodist, Carnegie Mellon and Schreiner.

Sophomore
Jacob Fripp led the way on Wednesday as he fired a one-over-par 73 for the round. Fripp opened his round with 11 straight pars before he birdied 12 to go one under. He ripped off three more pars before having a double on 16. He finished with two pars for his 73. Fripp finished five over for the tournament which tied him for 79
th overall.

Junior
Jason Velez was York's next finisher as he shot a three-over-par 75 on Wednesday. Velez started with a 38 on the front has he had three bogeys, five pars and a birdie on the ninth hole. He then started the back one over through four before he birdied 14. He had three pars and a bogey over the final four holes to finish with a one-over 37 on his second nine. Velez finished tied for 88
th as he concluded the tournament at six-over-par.

Junior
Gavin Ganter was York's third scorer on Wednesday as he shot a six-over-par 78. Ganter stumbled out of the gates as he was four-over through three holes. He got himself back on track as he played the final six holes of his opening nine holes at even par. Ganter was solid over his final nine holes of the day as he was two-over on the back nine for his 78. Ganter tied for 99
th as he was seven over for the tournament.

Matthew Salter was York's fourth scorer in the second round as he shot an eight-over 80. He staggered at the start of his round as he was five-over through four holes. He rebounded to shoot even par over the next 11 holes until he bogeyed 16 and had a double on 18 to end his day. He shot 41 on the front followed by a 39 on the back. Salter tied for 148
th in the tournament.

Freshman
Thomas O'Connell was the fifth tournament participant for the Green and White. O'Connell shot 92 on Wednesday as he carded a 49 on the front and a 43 on the back for York.

Spartan head coach
Jordan Koller felt like her squad gained valuable experience at the championships.
Â
"Jacob led the team today with a really steady round," said Koller. "The team got to see how they compared on a national level which will help prepare them for next year. Overall, we had to work hard for their scores in some tough conditions today."

Koller will welcome back all five starters and all nine members of the team for the 2024-25 season.
