Gabe Trevena drew out walk followed by a Robby Elzinga single to load the bases. After a strikeout, Chris Betler singled up the middle to score Prendergast. The Hornets got a double play to end the inning and snuff out the Spartan inning.
• The Spartans blew the game open in the third with a seven-run inning. The Green and White did their damage on six hits, a hit by pitch and two walks. Betler had a two-run single to kick off the scoring in the inning. Connor Pickle then ripped a two-run double to right center, pushing the lead to 5-0. Jacob Deimling had an RBI single to right and then came around to score on a Prendergast two-run single to center for the 8-0 Spartan lead.
• The Hornets got a pair of runs back in the third but the Spartans tallied five more runs in the fourth. Elzinga began the inning with a double to left center. Michael Tinneny followed with a double to center to score Elzinga. The Spartans then loaded the bases and Andrew Santarpia delivered a run with a hit by pitch. Deimling was hit by another pitch to push the lead to 11-2. Brett DeWees scored the 12th run with a sacrifice fly. York reloaded the bases and Trevena had a sacrifice fly of his own to score Santarpia.
• The Spartan offense kept rolling with another three-run inning in the fifth. Deimling ripped a ground rule double to score a pair for the 15-2 lead. Kenny Bamrick then singled to second to score Dawson Shelley for the 16-2 advantage. York got another two runs in the sixth on a Brett Michael two-run bomb to left for his first career collegiate home run.
• The Green and White closed out their scoring in the seventh as Joe Urban blasted a three-run homer to left, scoring Jason Cassidy and Bamrick, for the 21-2 lead.
