#18 Spartans Wallop Blazers in Wednesday Win

YORK, Pa. - The No. 18 York women's lacrosse team posted their seventh consecutive victory  and collected their 10th win of the season with a 21-9 victory over Hood at home on Wednesday.

The Spartans racked up a season-high 21 goals on the day with Zoe Kluegel leading the way with five as she compiled a career-best six points.

How It Happened
The Spartans ripped off eight-straight goals to start the game and owned an 8-1 lead at the end of one quarter of play. Zoe Kluegel put together a huge first-quarter performance for York with three goals and one assist. Goalie Bella Garabo posted six saves to keep all the momentum rolling in York's favor throughout the quarter.

York poured on seven more goals in the second quarter while winning nine of 10 draw controls in the period to take a 15-4 lead at halftime. Krista Yarusso and Sofie Steel each tallied twice in the quarter to lead the Spartan scoring effort.

The Spartans maintained their double-digit lead as the third quarter unfolded with tallies by Kluegel, Gianna Huet and Jen Campbell. Kiera McPhillips, Juliana Silvernale and Katie Jeanes added goals in the fourth quarter as the Spartans wrapped up their seventh-straight win.

The Spartans close out the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Messiah in a showdown of the Commonwealth last two unbeaten teams.

The Spartans improve to 12-0 all-time against Hood … the Spartans have scored 20-plus against the Blazers six times throughout history … York has now scored 20-plus goals twice this season … York extended their season win streak to seven games and out-scored opponents 121-33 in those games … Zoe Kluegel now has a pair of five-goal games this season and set a career-high with six points on the day which is the highest single-game point total by a Spartan this season … Sarah Christensen led York with six draw controls on the day and moved into the team lead with 52 on the season.
