How It Happened
The Golden Wolves netted the first goal of the game on their first possession to take their first-ever lead over the Spartans in four all-time meetings. Alvernia scored again later in the quarter to take a 2-1 edge, but Will Harnick scored with 8:04 left to tie the game, 2-2, and the score remained tied at the end of one period of play. The Spartans barraged the Golden Wolves with 17 shots in the first quarter, but were turned away eight times by Alverna goalie Dane Sabarese as he kept his team in it.

The Spartans turned up the offensive pressure in the second quarter and scored eight goals on 18 total shots with 12 on goal. Davis Fisher and Vinny Facciponti each netted a pair in the second quarter and Fisher also added an assist for a three-point performance in the period. Defensively, York limited AU to just two total shots and caused six of Alvernia's seven turnovers in the quarter to keep the momentum rolling in York's favor.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Spartans tacked on three more goals to put the finishing touches on the one-sided win. Eric Kaplan led the offense with two points in the fourth with a goal and an assist. AJ Apel highlighted the defensive effort with three saves to keep the second half shutout intact.
