How It Happened
The Spartan offense erupted for 13 runs on seven hits in the first inning of the day as the first 17-consecutive York batters reached base safely. Morgan Sauers, who led off the inning with a walk, later busted things open with a two-RBI single to push the Spartan lead to seven. Daphney Adams later extended the lead to double-digits with a two-run double. Sauers and Adams both scored twice and drove in two runs in the opening frame.

Adams remained hot and doubled again in the second inning to drive in the 14th run of the game for York. Emma Wade drove in Gretchen Barstad later in the frame as the Spartans owned a 15-0 lead through two innings of play.

The Ducks got on the board in the fourth with Rachael Prescott doing most of the damage. The Stevens first baseman drove in her team's first run with a single through the left side and then scored later in the fourth after stealing consecutive bases.

The Spartans got their two runs back in the top of the fifth on a Lindsey Smith double to left field and a Barstad RBI-ground out. The Ducks did not go away quietly as they scored three times in the bottom of the fifth, but it was too little too late for a comeback bid.

Natalie Rietema picked her second win of the season as she allowed five runs on five hits and did not allow an extra-base hit on the day.

How It Happened
York came out hot again to start game two and hung four runs on the board in the first half inning. Kylee Paules punctuated the inning with a two-run single. Unlike game one, Stevens answered back in the first inning and did so with three runs on just one hit.

The Spartans broke open a one-run game to a seven-run lead after scoring six runs on seven hits in the third inning. Sauers drove in the first runs of the inning with her two-RBI single and Barstad kept the rally going with a two-run triple. Wade later drove in Adams for York's 10th run of the game.

Holding a six-run lead entering the fifth inning, the Spartans ensured the game would be shortened yet again as they exploded for seven runs on five hits to extend their lead to 13. Wade started the offensive onslaught with a two-run double to left which brought in Rylee Dreyer and Adams. The Spartan rally was capped in dramatic fashion by Sauers who knocked a grand slam over the left field fence to punctuate the game two victory.

Kyrsten Coppage picked up her fourth win of the season as she surrendered five runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Kyra Fischer got tagged with her second loss of the day as she gave up 11 runs on 10 hits in 2.2 innings of work.
